Roots Guide is ready!

REFLECT. CONNECT. EXPLORE. SHARE.
I’ve had the great honor to be part of the transdisciplinary core production team for the Roots Guide (https://rootsguide.org/), an atypical guidebook to the Netherlands, since 2018. It has been a remarkable learning journey, bringing together the issues closest to my heart these last year: migrant heritage, social inclusion, and the potential of tourism to serve as a tool for transformative learning. And, as a university educator, I've had the deep joy of being able to go on this great journey together not only with a wonderful and inspiring array of guides, artists and storytelling facilitators but also with so many brilliant Wageningen University master's students through internships, theses and academic consultancies.
And now, I’m thrilled to announce that we’re launching the crowdfunding campaign today to be able to publish the Dutch-language version of the Roots Guide guidebook and the educational toolkit! Please consider donating or pre-ordering to support our mission to strengthen social inclusion in the Netherlands! Also, please share this post with friends, colleagues and family that you think would enjoy using Roots Guide!
Roots Guide isn’t your typical guidebook! It helps you to embrace your travel mindset anytime, anywhere, even right here at home in the Netherlands.
Roots Guide isn’t your typical guidebook! It helps you to embrace your travel mindset anytime, anywhere, even right here at home in the Netherlands. We invite you on an interactive and deeply personal journey, through these steps: REFLECT. CONNECT. EXPLORE. SHARE.
During your journey you’ll be accompanied by guides from diverse migration backgrounds. Specially designed questions will encourage you to reflect and inquire. Exciting activities take you on an adventure, and share your new experiences with friends and strangers. At the end of your Roots Guide journey, you won’t only see the Netherlands differently, but you may also want to be in it differently.
We need your help! After five years of interviews, photoshoots and research, Roots Guide is nearly done! Roots Guide is in part supported by the National Geographic Society, which has enabled us to beta-test the guidebook, develop the educational toolkit and cover a portion of our printing costs. However, we need an additional 8000 euros to get Roots Guide printed!
